Purchasing a projector does not have to be an expensive investment. Using these tips and tricks to help you save money and still get a quality projector.
Refurbished Projectors Buying a refurbished projector is a good option if you are trying to save money. Refurbished projectors are new projectors that had to be rebuilt by the manufacturer and are therefore sold at a lower price. Discount refurbished projectors usually have brand new lamps, bulbs, and other parts. Really cheap refurbished projectors may seem to good to be true, but they usually come with a warranty. And though you may be wary, refurbished products often stand up to quality inspections better than original products because they have been heavily scrutinized. Refurbished projector sales can be found on the internet and most office supply stores. Demo Projectors Another money saving solution is to buy the floor model from a business or retail store. This is generally safer than buying a used projector from the classifieds or eBay, where you have no idea how frequently the projector was used or how it was cared for. Demo projectors are generally used as models to show off features and give small demonstrations to potential buyers. Because of this, these type of projectors are used minimally and maintained properly, and therefore are safe money saving options. Rental Projectors You may also discover that renting a projector may work out to be more cost efficiently then buying one outright. If you plan to use the projector randomly and infrequently you may not need to purchase one, rather you can rent or lease one whenever the need arises. This is a good way to test out projectors to see which one you like before committing to one, it also allows you time to gather funds to make your purchase. Low Lumens Projectors Lumens are the term used to measure the brightness of a projector. High lumens projectors generally can be used in a variety of lighting conditions and different sized venues, which makes them more expensive. Depending on where you plan on using the projector you may not need to spend a lot of money on a projector with a high lumens measurement. Larger Projectors The growing trend is for projector to become lighter, and more compact in their design. While these small projectors are easy to carry and are convenient for the mobile presenter, they are also more expensive. You can save money by purchasing a projector that is slightly larger. A projector that weighs six to ten pounds can still be used as a portable projector but will cost you less. |
