With so many home theatre projectors to choose from, selecting the right one for you can seem overwhelming. Luckily we have simplified the purchasing process by narrowing down the four most important considerations when choosing the best projector for your personal needs.
Brightness The brightness of home projectors is measured in lumens. The higher the number of lumens, the brighter the image will be and the better the picture quality. You should look for a video projector with the highest amount of lumens you can afford. Projectors with greater brightness measurements can be used in a larger variety of setting, including large venues or location where the lighting is difficult to control. Projectors with between 1000 and 1200 lumens are only adequate for dark rooms. Resolution Resolution is measured by the amount of pixels you can fit on a screen both vertically and horizontally. Projector reviews reveal that a resolution of 800 by 600 is sufficient for standard presentations that do not require a lot of detail. However, for computer projectors that are involved in presentations with detailed graphics or animations a greater resolution will be required. Contrast Ratio Even if you are looking for a cheap projector, you should still invest in one with adequate contrast ratio. This ratio measures the images darkest black to its brightest white. If you plan on using your projector selection for detailed presentations you should look for a contrast ratio above 300:1. However, if your presentations do not require a great deal of precision than you can look for a projector with a ratio of 200:1. Weight You should choose the weight of your projector based on your projector setup. For example, if you are planning on traveling a lot with your home projector you should look for one that is compact, light weight, and easy to carry. Try to select a model that weighs less than five pounds. However, if you plan on leaving your home projector in the same location but moving it occasionally you should look for one between five and nine pounds. If you never plan on using you home projector you can select a projector that weighs more than ten pounds if you would like. Other Considerations When selecting a home projector that is right for you also consider connectivity options, projector price comparisons, the cost of projector repairs, wireless capability, and mounting options. If you are looking for discount projectors you may also want to consider used projectors, refurbished projectors, or rental when comparing projector prices. |
